Pickin’ in the Panhandle is host to the KCBS West Virginia State BBQ Championship and a Backyard BBQ Cook-off. Whether you’re a professional chef or just king of the grill in your own backyard, we have the competition for you – complete with cash prizes, trophies, and braggin’ rights!

Congratulations to Cool Smoke our 2012 KCBS WV State BBQ Grand Champion!  Squirrelly Kids BBQ was our Backyard BBQ Grand Champion!  A big “thank you” to all the teams and judges who participated.

• 8:00 am – Professional and backyard teams may arrive at Shiley Acres. Meat inspection will follow after team set-up is complete.
• 6:00 pm – Cooks meeting for professional teams
• 11:00 pm to 7:00 am – Quiet time

September 7, 2013

• 12:00 pm – Chicken turn-in
• 12:30 pm – Ribs turn-in
• 1:00 pm – Pork turn-in
• 1:30 pm – Brisket turn-in
• 2:00 pm – Cook’s Choice/WV Governors Cup turn-in
• 2:30 pm – Smokin’ Sweets turn-in
• 5:45 pm – BBQ Awards
• 6:45 pm – Cooks meeting for backyard teams
• 7:00 pm – Meat inspection is available for backyard teams (please give advanced notice if you wish to have meat inspected)
• Midnight to 7:00 am – Quiet time

September 8, 2013

• 9:00 am – All backyard teams must have completed meat inspection
